ATLANTA — Clayton County Board of Education members Victoria Williams, Jessie Goree, and Mary Baker were recently honored with the Trailblazer for Innovation and Public Education Award by the Center for Strong Public Schools.

The award recognizes school board members who display visionary leadership and the courage to embrace innovation and new opportunities for students.

“In a state where local public charter authorizations have been rare in recent years, these leaders’ actions have helped re-open pathways for innovation within Georgia’s public school system,” a press release from the Center for Strong Public Schools read.

Baker, Goree and Williams were awarded alongside Samantha Moore Valentine of Richmond County and Dr. Tonia Howard-Hall of the Savannah-Chatham County School Board.
