A pair of hardware retail chains are beefing up their local footprints.

Pleasants Hardware has a new store planned in Chesterfield, while competitor Ace Hardware has a new store slated to open in Henrico.

The new Pleasants is set to open next spring in a 15,000-square-foot space at 10011 W. Hull Street Road, the company announced last week.

The space was formerly occupied by Victory Lane Auto Sales & Repair at Oxbridge Square shopping center. Other tenants in the Big Lots-anchored center include an ABC store as well as Popeyes and Shoney’s restaurants.

It would be the fourth Pleasants store to open since the formerly Richmond-based chain was acquired in 2016 by Taylor’s Do it Centers , which is based in Virginia Beach.
