India Meteorological Department (IMD) has declared that northeast Monsoon rainfall activity has commenced over Tamil Nadu; Puducherry and Karaikal; Coastal Andhra Pradesh; Rayalaseema; South Interior Karnataka; and Kerala-Mahe today (THursday) with preceding south-west monsoon exiting from the entire country.

A helpful upper air cyclonic circulation persisted over Comorin area and neighbourhood. Fairly widespread rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal and adjoining area of south coastal Andhra Pradesh and Kerala during the past 24 ending on Thursday morning.
