HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - As thousands of Kaiser Permanente workers in Hawaii continue to strike , the health careprovider is reminding members thatits emergency rooms, urgent care centers and most clinics remain open.
The strike began Tuesday, with health care workers joining over 50,000 union workers throughout Hawaii and at Kaiser facilities along the West Coast.
They include lab professionals, medical assistants, pharmacy technicians, housekeeping aides, and other skilled employees represented by UNITE HERE Local 5, Hawaii Nurses and Healthcare Professionals (HNHP), and United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals (UNAC/UHCP).
Employees are seeking a fair contract, safe staffing, and equitable wages to keep up with the state’s high cost of living.
