Many dogs bark at every little thing they see, often so much that their owners stop reacting altogether.

For Shelly Lisi, who lives in a quiet rural part of New York bordered by farmland and a nearby horse property, barking is nothing new. Her two dogs love to “announce” any passing animal, and usually, it’s over within a minute or two.

This time, though, the barking didn’t stop. It went on far longer than usual, and Lisi realized something was out of the ordinary. Curious and slightly concerned, she stepped outside to see what had captured her dogs’ attention.

What she found waiting in her yard took her completely by surprise.
