COLUMBUS, Ohio — Chuck White, the former longtime public affairs director at WBNS-10TV, has died at the age of 90, his family confirmed.

White joined WBNS in 1957 and spent 50 years with the company. Throughout his time at 10TV, he served as a reporter, producer, anchor and public affairs director, as well as a co-producer, co-writer and performer on the children's show "Luci's Toyshop."

"Luci's Toyshop" was broadcast on WBNS-10TV from 1960 to 1972 and was hosted by Lucille VanLeeuwen. White served as the voice of "Mr. Tree," a 7-foot-tall singing tree.

"He would give the date, the time and the weather and then he would be the voice of wisdom," White previously said of the character. "I remember a conversation I had with Dom Tiberi, and someone had asked him, 'Who is your mentor in life
