The Attorney General has granted permission to initiate contempt proceedings against the lawyer who threw a shoe at Chief Justice of India B.R. Gavai. The development was informed to the Supreme Court on Thursday.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta and Supreme Court Bar Association President Vikas Singh urged the court for an urgent hearing before a bench comprising Justice Suryakant and Justice Jaimalya Bagchi.
