The Assam Government will write to the Chief Justice of the Gauhati High Court to constitute a fast-track court for the expeditious trial of the Zubeen Garg death case, Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma announced after chairing a Cabinet meeting on Thursday.

Once the Special Investigation Team (SIT) completes its probe and files the charge sheet, the fast-track court will take up the case. A Special Public Prosecutor, to be appointed on the recommendation of the Advocate General of Assam, will exclusively handle the case.
