SPARTANBURG COUNTY, S.C. —

A Spartanburg, South Carolina, man is accused in a scheme to exploit a vulnerable adult and misappropriate more than $10,000, according to the South Carolina Attorney General's Office.

Willie Herndon, 68 years old, of Spartanburg, is charged with one count of exploitation of a vulnerable adult, one count of breach of trust with fraudulent intent, value $10,000 or more and crimes against a federally chartered or insured financial institution.

Herndon was booked into the Spartanburg County Detention Center on Oct. 15.

The attorney general's office said that an investigation revealed that, between March 18, 2024, and February 20, 2025, Herndon allegedly made unlawful, unauthorized, or improper use of the funds and assets of a vulnerable adult.
