GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island man accused of firing a gun toward Nebraska State Patrol troopers is now facing six charges in Hall County Court.
Justin Jelinek, 43, is charged with felony criminal attempted first-degree murder and felony attempted first-degree assault of a peace officer. He also faces two counts of use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony and two misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest and obstructing a peace officer.
Investigators with the NSP Technical Crimes Unit arrived at 921 East Oklahoma Avenue around 6:40 a.m. Wednesday to execute a search warrant as part of a child pornography investigation involving Jelinek.
According to the arrest affidavit, as investigators attempted to serve the search warrant, Jelinek was seen holding a short shotgun.
