BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - The result of a close race in the Birmingham City School Board is being contested due to ineligibility.
In a lawsuit filed in Jefferson County on Oct. 10, Pamela Bass alleges that her opponent and winner of the District 8 school board seat, Antwon Bass, was not eligible to be in the race.
In a runoff election held on Oct. 7, Womack received 755 votes to Bass’ 730.
The accusation stems from an eviction granted in July against Womack for an apartment located at 2108 Warrior Road in Birmingham.
“At the time of the runoff election on October 7, 2025, Contestee Antwon Womack was not a resident of the City of Birmingham School Board, District 8, as required by law to be eligible to fun for and hold said office,” the suit reads.
