ENUMCLAW, Wash. — The White River Bridge will reopen Oct. 17, Gov. Bob Ferguson announced Thursday.

The bridge will open between 5 p.m. and midnight, after final inspections are complete.

The opening date is weeks ahead of schedule. Ferguson previously said the bridge was expected to reopen between Oct. 31 and Nov. 15 once repairs were complete.

The White River Bridge has been closed since Aug. 18 after a semi-truck crashed into the bridge and damaged the structure.

Ferguson said crews were working on the bridge seven days a week to get it back open as soon as possible. It took "a little luck" to get the bridge back open so soon, Ferguson added, because materials can take time to receive and weather doesn't always cooperate.
