SMITH COUNTY, Texas — Arrest documents reveal that a Tyler man stole a vehicle from a gas station and later drove it after drinking beers for his birthday, causing the death of a 35-year-old woman in a head-on collision.

Jeremiah Munoz, 31, of Tyler, is charged with intoxication manslaughter, possession of a controlled substance between four and 400 grams, possession of marijuana, and possession of a controlled substance under one gram.

He was arrested in connection with the crash that occurred Wednesday on FM 2015 near Winona, which resulted in the death of Brandi Carter, 35, of Tyler.

Munoz collided with the front left side of Carter’s vehicle after entering her lane of traffic. She was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety.
