COLUMBIA, S.C. — Connor Shaw has taken to social media to provide details of what led to his medical scare last month.

Shaw revealed on Instagram he suffered sudden cardiac arrest on Sept. 17 while coaching his son's flag football game in Simpsonville.

Carolina's all-time winningest quarterback credits an off-duty firefighter and an off-duty police officer for saving his life as they performed CPR until an automated external defibrillator (AED) arrived.

Shaw spent three days in an Upstate hospital, and one week after his release, he made his surprise appearance on the field as Carolina's celebrity starter for the Kentucky game on Sept. 27. Your browser does not support HTML5 video.

Shaw is now on a mission to make sure AED's are provided for areas in need across the state.
