The Coronado City Council meeting on October 7 began with the recognition of Fire Prevention Week in the City. Fire Chief Jayson Summers and representatives from the community risk reduction division of Coronado’s Fire Services team were there to receive the proclamation from Mayor John Duncan, which discussed the importance of knowledge around fire safety. This year, the focus was on mitigating fire risks associated with lithium-ion batteries, particularly rechargeable ones, by purchasing Underwriters Laboratories (UL)-certified batteries from legitimate sources, charging them correctly, and disposing of them safely.
