Fifteen fire engines and around 100 firefighters raced to a shop in London after it burst into flames this evening.

The London Fire Brigade said the fire affected a ground floor shop which has flats situated above. Locals were told to keep their windows and doors closed, and the station itself was closed - sparking major travel chaos.

A 25-metre cordon was put in place and the public were advised to avoid the area. The cause of the fire is unknown at this time. 22:40 Zahra Khaliq

Fire crews continue tackling blaze

Fire crews are still tackling a blaze that broke out at a shop and adjoining workshop in Forest Hill. The incident has sparked traffic disruption and also affecting passengers for Forest Hill station. Residents have been warned to steer clear of the area.
