BLOOMINGDALE, Ga. (WTVM) - A remnant connected to a World War II veteran and Savannah native has been discovered, eight decades after his death. Someone found that second headstone over 13 miles away from the cemetery where he’s buried.
“Just saw something irregular, not natural and we walked into the woods about 10 yards off of highway 80 or so and when we walked in I looked at the headstone and it said ‘Private First Class Malcolm Jr.’ I was like oh this is a military headstone,” Bloomingdale GA resident Drew Roberts said.
Drew Roberts sifted through 80-year-old records to find an answer on why this headstone was buried, and what it was doing so far away from his grave.
