SEATTLE — Police are investigating after a mother reportedly killed her 4-year-old son in Seattle on Thursday, according to the Seattle Police Department.

Authorities responded to the 6600 block of Roosevelt Way NE at the Cedar Crossing Apartments for concerns about a child's welfare around 4:15 p.m.

At the apartments, officers found the boy and attempted life-saving measures, but he died at the scene. Police did not say how the boy died or exactly where he was found.

The 45-year-old mother, who was believed to be in a "behavioral health crisis," was taken into custody, police confirmed to KING 5.

The woman was taken to police headquarters to be interviewed and is expected to be booked into King County Jail, according to Seattle police.
