MADISON, Wis. (WMTV) - The Dane County Humane Society is looking for the community’s help to raise $7,800 in order to help a sick puppy.

According to the shelter, Ricky was born with a heart condition. During his first examination with DCHS, they found a heart murmur. After further tests, doctors noticed his heart is under great strain.

Cardiac specialists with UW Veterinary Care later confirmed that the puppy was born with a severe heart defect called pulmonic stenosis. The shelter said this condition can cause a narrowing in Ricky’s heart valves and can cause his heart to work much harder to move blood to his lungs.

If he does not receive treatment, Ricky could face fatigue, fainting and sudden heart failure. This could cost him his life.
