RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — After a five year long investigation, the daughter of Torchlight Academy Charter School's CEO is facing charges fraud charges.
Shawntrice Andrews, is accused of defrauding the U.S. Department of Education out of thousands of dollars.
Andrews was arrested and charged Thursday. According to arrest warrants she is alleged to have falsified documents for Torchlight academy and and defrauded the U.S. Department of Education out of $9,350.50.
She is also accused of attempting to obtain another $4,800.62 from the U.S. Department of Education through the same process.
Andrews was not home when CBS17 stopped by her house. However, her mother and former principal of Torchlight, Cynthia McQueen was.
