An Ayrshire woman says she was left "devastated" after being told that she might have leukaemia on the day of her daughter's sixth birthday.
Elaine Bolton, then 35, was suffering headaches, vomiting, pain in her bones and ribcage and extreme fatigue when she decided to go to her GP .
Originally, her doctor put it down to a virus, but following a blood test at another doctor, she was given the devastating news that she had suspected leukaemia.
She was told that she would need more tests straight away, but despite the news, it didn't stop her putting on a brave face for her daughter. When she was diagnosed, one nurse said that without intervention she would have had just weeks to live.
