Two people were killed early Friday in a fiery crash on I-10 Katy Freeway near Taylor Street after a Tesla rear-ended another vehicle.

Houston police say a woman has been charged with intoxication manslaughter.

The crash happened when a Tesla rear-ended a Nissan at a high rate of speed, causing the Nissan to catch fire. The driver and passenger inside the Nissan were trapped and pronounced dead at the scene.

The Tesla struck barriers on both sides of the freeway before coming to a stop. Its passenger was taken to a local hospital and is in stable condition. The Tesla driver remains under investigation and has been charged with two counts of intoxication manslaughter.
