CLEVELAND HEIGHTS, Ohio — The MetroHealth System announced it will close its Psychiatric Emergency Department at the Cleveland Heights Medical Center effective Dec. 31.

As a result of the closure, they plan to redeploy 35 employees to meet growing behavioral health needs across Northeast Ohio.

The decision follows a Cuyahoga County Council vote last month that approved $7 million in funding to support the construction of a new behavioral health crisis center to be operated by The Centers.
