EUGENE, Ore. - As fall sets in, gardeners in Oregon are reminded that there's still plenty of work to be done to prepare for spring. Chelsea Deffenbacher caught up with Caleb Johnson from Johnson Brothers Garden Market to share some essential tips for autumn gardening.

Caleb Johnson emphasized the importance of continuing to apply slug bait. "The slugs are laying their eggs that are going to hatch out on all your newly planted spring plants right now," Johnson said.

Johnson advised gardeners to keep using slug bait throughout the fall to reduce the slug and snail population for the spring. Fertilizing early blooming shrubs is another key task.
