Hat tricks are a special accomplishment for any soccer player because they do not happen often. Three goals by one player in a game happens approximately in three to four percent of matches at the pro levels. A four-goal game happens even less, but the Emporia Spartans soccer team got that accomplishment from an unlikely source in their 9-1 win over Wichita South to get to 8-5-1 on the year.
The regular season is starting to wind down as the Spartans started their final homestand against the Titans of Wichita South.
