Hutchens sentenced to 64 years for murder, molestation of Grace Ross

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- Eighteen-year-old Anthony Hutchens will remain in juvenile detention until at least October 2026 for the murder of 6-year-old Grace Ross.

Hutchens appeared in court Friday morning to evaluate whether he should spend the remainder of his 64-year sentence in an adult correctional facility. The court determined that he will be returned to Pendleton Juvenile Correctional Facility for at least one year.

The court will then reevaluate the transfer of Hutchens, who will then be 19, to an adult prison. According to Hutchens' defense attorney at the time of his sentencing, he could be held at a juvenile facility up until the age of 21.
