CHARLESTON, W.VA. (WV News) — The West Virginia Division of Highways has canceled the highly debated Teays Valley Road widening project in Putnam County after the agency failed to reach an agreement with local residents and business owners.
West Virginia Transportation Secretary Todd Rumbaugh, P.E., confirmed the decision to halt the proposal.
“I have directed the West Virginia Division of Highways to cancel further development of the Teays Valley Road Widening project in Putnam County,” Rumbaugh said.
The project originated in 2024 when the WVDOH was asked to develop a plan to address congestion and reduce accidents on Teays Valley Road between Great Teays Boulevard and the US 35 intersection.
