OLIVE BRANCH, Miss. (WMC) - An Olive Branch police officer accused of criminal “fondling” has been arrested in Memphis.
Officer Joseph Barbour is currently booked into the Shelby County Jail on a felony fugitive warrant. No bond information is available at this time. He’s due in court on October 20.
Olive Branch Chief Deputy Justin Smith says the police department contacted the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office exactly a week ago to request an independent investigation into a criminal allegation involving an Olive Branch police officer.
The sheriff’s office’s investigation resulted in a warrant for Barbour’s arrest for fondling on Thursday.
The same day, the DeSoto County Sheriff’s Office and Memphis Police Department’s respective fugitive divisions worked together to bring Barbour into c
