PORTLAND Ore. (KPTV) - About 4,000 Kaiser Permanente nurses and healthcare workers were on strike for a fourth day in the Portland area on Friday.

Helen Moss has been a patient at Kaiser hospitals for more than 30 years, and her husband just had surgery at the Sunnyside Medical Center on Monday, just one day before nurses and workers walked out.

On Friday morning, she spoke on behalf of the striking workers, saying they are the reason she and her husband have come back to the hospital for decades.

“You know, we do have a choice with our healthcare and we pick Kaiser because of the workers and we support the striking workers,” Moss said. “They really are striking for what is fair and decent and if Kaiser wants to keep good people, they have to give them competitive compensation.”
