JAMES CITY — In front of a raucous homecoming crowd, the Warhill football team provided its fans with an early Halloween gift as the Lions knocked Poquoson from the ranks of the undefeated with a 35-28 win Friday night at Wanner Stadium.
Kaden Scales scored three touchdowns for Warhill, including a 14-yard reception from Carson Strickland in the fourth quarter to break a 28-28 tie against the Islanders, who are ranked ninth in the 757Teamz Top 15.
Neither team enjoyed more than a touchdown lead, with ties of 7 and 14 at the end of the first quarter and first half, respectively. The hosts scored the game’s final 14 points to transform a seven-point deficit into a one-score win.
