LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Over the summer, Jennifer received a phone call that no parent wants to get; she was told her teenage son was allegedly sexually abused by 28-year-old Martha Ruiz Palacios.

10/11 News is choosing not to give the mother’s last name to protect the identity of the victim.

Jennifer’s son has been at the Youth Rehabilitation Treatment Center in Kearney since January 2024, but did not receive a phone call about the sexual abuse incident until nearly a week later.

“You waited all of that time, I understand you are trying to get documentation,” Jennifer said. “You are trying to get HR and trying to get the State Patrol and trying to get them to get involved but a week, it does not take six days for you to get all of that stuff.”
