Police in Bloomfield say a Newark man was arrested earlier this week after he allegedly stole a large amount of ice cream from a local store.
According to preliminary information released by Bloomfield Police, officers responded to the Dollar Tree at 135 Bloomfield Avenue on October 11, 2025, following a report of shoplifting.
Store management told police that a man had walked in, taken $85.25 worth of ice cream, and left without paying.
Officers quickly located the suspect nearby and identified him as 55-year-old Mr. Vance Rouse of Newark.
He was taken into custody without incident and transported to Bloomfield Police Headquarters, where he was processed.
