Newark and much of North Jersey are waking up to chilly conditions this Saturday morning as fall weather settles firmly over the region.
As of 4:30 a.m., it was 49 degrees along Market and Mulberry Streets in downtown Newark, with crisp air and partly sunny skies.
For anyone heading out early for pumpkin picking, farmers' markets, or weekend errands, a light coat or sweater will come in handy.
According to the National Weather Service, frost advisories remain in effect for parts of northern New Jersey, including Sussex and Passaic counties, where temperatures dipped near freezing overnight.
Those advisories are expected to expire later in the morning as the sun warms things up.
