CUMBERLAND COUNTY (WTVD) -- A driver lost their life in a tragic crash early Saturday morning in Cumberland County.

The accident happened around 2:45 a.m. at the 47-mile marker on I-95 southbound.

Troopers say a Chevrolet Tahoe crashed into a USPS contract truck, trapping the driver inside.

Emergency crews worked quickly to free the driver, performed CPR, and rushed him to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, but he did not survive.

The driver of the USPS truck was not injured. Southbound lanes reopened just after 4 a.m.
