FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne’s annual Great Tree Canopy Comeback was held Saturday.
From 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., community members gathered at two city parks - Bob Arnold Northside Park and Swinney Park East.
50 trees were planted at Bob Arnold Northside Park while crews at Swinney Park East worked to remove invasive shrubs.
The Great Tree Canopy Comeback began in 2001 with the mission to restore ‘a canopy that was found to be severely lacking in the parks system’.
Since then, the annual event has planted over 3,000 trees in multiple parks and trails throughout Allen County.
