PORTSMOUTH — The Portsmouth High School girls’ varsity soccer team lost its second match of the season to La Salle Academy Thursday night, but this one was much tighter than the previous contest.
The Rams had no trouble with the Patriots in a 4-1 victory on Oct. 1, when La Salle scored three goals in the second half on its own field.
The Patriots showed more fight on Thursday, dropping a tough 2-1 decision to the No. 2 ranked team in Division I.
Portsmouth is now 1-10-1 in Division I, and 4-12-1 overall. The win improved the Rams’ record to 11-2 in both the division and overall.
The Patriots will host Lincoln at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 20, before traveling to Barrington on Wednesday, Oct. 22, and then East Greenwich on Thursday, Oct. 23.
