It took 19 firefighters 10 minutes to put out a smoky fire in an apartment in the Vermont Vista area of Los Angeles Saturday.

The fire was reported at 4:10 p.m. Saturday at 8939 S. Hoover St., said the Los Angeles Fire Department’s Lyndsey Lantz. That is near 90th Street and across from the Algin Sutton Recreation Center.

Smoke was showing from the first floor unit of the two-story garden-style building when firefighters arrived, Lantz said.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire was not yet determined, she said.
