Three men have been charged after a robbery involving stolen cars in Melbourne's south-east overnight.

Police were called to a property on Cardamon Drive in Hallam at around 1.30am after unknown men entered the garage of the house.

They allegedly stole gardening tools from the garage before fleeing in a stolen Toyota Land Cruiser.

A short time later, the car was spotted in a convoy on the Monash Freeway, where it was seen alongside a stolen Toyota 86, with the convoy driving through the Springvale and Noble Park areas.

It is believed the Land Cruiser was stolen from Caufield North on Friday, whilst the Toyota 86 was allegedly stolen from Malvern East on October 11,
