SANDY, Utah (ABC4) — A Sandy man is facing assault charges after reportedly pointing a shotgun at his sons during an altercation Friday evening.

According to a probable cause affidavit, Sandy Police responded to a home on Teal Way for a report of fight occurring with a handgun and rifle. The incident began when a verbal altercation ensued between the suspect, 72-year-old John Boren and one of his sons when they came home to collect belongings from his downstairs room.

During the altercation, Boren grabbed a black handgun from his room and walked to the stairs. The son walked up the stairs with a mirror in hand when Boren pointed the gun at the son and told them they were not going to take his stuff.
