NORTH BRANCH – Almont is once again the undisputed champion of the Blue Water Area Conference football circles.
The Raiders (8-0 overall) captured their third straight outright crown by downing host North Branch 43-14 Friday night on the road. It marks Almont’s third straight 7-0 unbeaten season in the BWAC.
Brody Corneau had just four carries for 132 yards and scored touchdown runs of 58, 68 and 2 yards in the win. Corneau also had two catches for 28 yards but like most of the Raiders’ starters were pulled from the game in the second half.
Almont led 15-7 after the first quarter and 29-7 at the half. The Raiders blew the game open with a 14-0 run in the third quarter before yielding a late touchdown to North Branch late in the fourth stanza.
