TUSCALOOSA, Alabama (WATE) — Tennessee's CFP hopes are now in question after falling to Alabama 20-37. It marked the Vols 11th straight loss to the Tide in Tuscaloosa. UT's last win in Alabama came in 2003.
Tennessee lost the coin toss and started on offense. However, the Tide defense forced a quick three-and-out as the Vols got behind the sticks with a false start penalty on the second play of the game.
Tennessee's defense started strong, with a tackle for loss and an incompletion to bring up a third-and-long situation. However, Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson connected with Josh Cuevas on an 18-yard strike to extend the drive. Simpson followed that up with a 31-yard pass to Ryan Williams to put the Tide in the red zone.
