AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi took a poetic dig at Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Sunday over his recent statement on removing the Public Safety Act (PSA) through an ordinance once statehood is restored.

Reacting to Omar Abdullah’s remarks, Owaisi highlighted that the PSA, enacted in 1978 by Sheikh Abdullah to tackle smuggling, has long been a tool of oppression misused by successive governments.

“The Public Safety Act, 1978 (PSA) was introduced by Sheikh Abdullah in 1978 to deal with smuggling. Farooq Abdullah, G M Shah, Mufti Sayeed, G N Azad, Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti have all been Chief Ministers of J&K. They could have easily repealed PSA and prevented untold suffering and human rights violations,” Owaisi said.
