Iended our long walk at the hose by the garage door. Tucker, our 5-year-old Bernedoodle, must have drunk from it for two minutes straight.
I stood there watching, listening to my buddy gorge himself with cold, clean, refreshing water. His face looked up, tongue dripping, as if to say, “O that is good!”
Standing there, I felt so good. Not only had I walked my dog, but now I gave him this moment of refreshing joy.
Then, the thought crossed my mind. I imagined that’s how our amazing creator feels when the hungry are fed, the thirsty are given drink, the naked are clothed, the homeless find shelter and the prisoner is set free. “For God so loved the world!”
All of this goodness happens when a person knows what it felt like to get a clean, cold glass of water right when they needed it most.
