Rhode Island FC still has work to do. But the Ocean State club checked off an important box on Saturday night.

Rhode Island drew North Carolina FC, 0-0, at First Horizon Stadium on Oct. 18 to clinch a playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. RIFC earns its second playoff bid as a USL Championship club after it reached the league championship last season.

Goalkeeper Koke Vegas recorded his 11th clean sheet of the regular season with three saves. It was Rhode Island's league-leading 12th shutout of the season.

It was an up-and-down year for the club as it remained at the bottom of the league in goals scored. They fought through injuries at the beginning of the season and stayed alive long enough to snag one of eight playoff spots in the conference.
