YAVAPAI COUNTY, Ariz. — A motorcyclist was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries after he hit a javelina while riding in Yavapai County, according to authorities.
The Yavapai Sheriff's Office said the crash happened Wednesday night near Cornville Road and East Kimberleys Way.
Crews arrived on scene and found the seriously injured man. He was airlifted to a Flagstaff hospital for treatment.
A witness told the sheriff's office that the motorcycle swerved to avoid hitting a javelina but hit the animal anyway. He then lost control of the motorcycle and left the roadway.
" Evidence found at the scene, including what appeared to be animal hair on the motorcycle's front forks, supported the witness's account," the sheriff's office said.
