Srinagar, Oct 19: The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Sunday announced Agha Syed Mehmood as its candidate for the Budgam Assembly bye-election, while the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will field Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi, who is set to file his nomination papers.
In the 2024 Assembly elections, NC vice president Omar Abdullah had won the Budgam seat with 36,010 votes, defeating Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi of PDP, who secured 17,525 votes.
According to the party’s official X account (formerly Twitter), JKNC said the announcement was made on the directions of the party leadership. “On the directions of the party leadership, JKNC has announced Agha Syed Mehmood as the party’s candidate for the upcoming Budgam Assembly election.
