A wrong-way driver allegedly driving drunk was killed in a multi-vehicle crash Sunday morning on the Golden State (5) Freeway in Burbank, authorities said.

The crash occurred at about 3:45 a.m. Sunday on the northbound freeway at Alameda Avenue, according to the California Highway Patrol. The fatality was confirmed by the Los Angeles Fire Department at 3:57 a.m., the CHP said.

A vehicle was traveling northbound in the number one lane when it hit the wrong-way motorist’s vehicle, which was going southbound, authorities said. Another vehicle crashed into the vehicle that had initially struck the wrong-way vehicle, and that vehicle landed on its roof.
