A hit-and-run driver crashed into an outdoor birthday party in Bladensburg, Md., Saturday evening, killing a 31-year-old woman and injuring 13 people.

Eight children ages 1 to 17 were among the injured when the sedan plowed into a white tent on a residential lawn.

The driver fled the scene but later turned himself in to police, authorities said.
