KENT COUNTY, Mich. — The Kent County Sheriff's Office (KCSO) is asking the community for help finding a missing K9.

Deputies said on Sunday morning K9 Soka, a new German Shorthair mix trained in narcotics detection, ran away from his handler while in Irons, Michigan.

K9 Soka was last seen about 1.5 miles southwest of Peacock Township Hall in the Manistee National Forest.

The Lake County Sheriff's Office is helping look for K9 Soka with a ground search. KCSO has deployed a drone to the area in hopes that the weather will allow for an aerial search.

K9 Soka is microchipped and wearing his collar with identification. Deputies said he's friendly and may approach people if he's called.
