MERRIMACK, N.H. —
Two people, including a police officer, were treated for smoke inhalation on Saturday after a house fire on Bambi Trail.
The Merrimack police and fire departments were called to the scene shortly after noon yesterday after they received a report of smoke coming from a home.
The Merrimack Fire Department said its crews made entry into the home. The fire was contained and ultimately extinguished.
Authorities said the homeowner and a police officer both suffered smoke inhalation.
Firefighters say they administered CPR to three family pets who were taken from the fire. The pets were transported to an emergency veterinary hospital, where they died.
As of Sunday morning, the cause and origin of the fire were still under investigation.
